Cancelling Sky

Can anyone explain what happens when you cancel a subscription with Sky? Can you continue to receive all the "freeview" type channels once the subscription ends or do I have to request a new viewing card for this purpose? The box in question is a Sky+ box and I am assuming that I will lose the recording functionality from the box, but can I still use the box for viewing?
Thanks for any advice.

Usually you can still see the free to view freesat channels.
You will lose the recording facility unless you pay £10 a month but you can still use it to get freesat channels.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
Once cancelled your existing card will act as a Freesat Card, allowing to watch Ch4 Ch5's (x3) and Sky 3 which are soft encrypted, all other free channels will work OK without a card.;)0
