Checking car tax on DVLA website

My wife renewed car tax on New Year's Eve at 5:40pm via DVLA website. I've just now checked the car on their site (the Beta service) but it seems to be saying the car remains untaxed. I know today's the first working day after renewal but I would have expected the website to be updated by now. Is it likely to be the case that it's a new service with some teething problems still to be ironed out, or should we contact DVLA?

it seems to take an age to show as taxed on the DVLA site, i did mine online and it took five days to show and that was march last year so no holidays
I wouldn't worry just yet0 -
They only refresh the public viewable database every few days. On their internal one it will show as taxed.0

I noticed that when you check you vehicle MOT expiry date you also get RFL status displayed.
Made it easy when getting the BiL's Mondeo back from the Auction as it was still taxed.
Actually on checking MID it was still Insured.
Only took a few minutes changing his cover over, but there was no likelihood of being pulled by the Police due to not being on the Database yet.
The handy thing is to check the MOT status you don't need the V5 reference number or anything.
Just the Reg No and make of car.
Quite handy.0 -
Give it until the end of the week.
I know my car took the full 5 days to update when I bought it. The dealer taxed it for me, and I wanted to make sure he'd done it.0 -
Thanks all.
I'll check it again in a day or two.0 -
https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ is a good resource too especially when looking at buying used cars.0
