License Issue

Hello All,

Not sure if this is the right place within the forum but i want like to get some advice on next steps.

Basically few months back, I received a letter from DVLA informing me that my licence was invoked and i am disqualified for driving based on the court hearing. I was not aware of any court hearing nor any mistake i made so i called DVLA and they informed me that i was driving the car without insurance whereas I always had an insurance. DVLA also asked me to follow the case with court in London who made the judgement.

On calling court, they realized the mistake was made by someone (DVLA or the court) and after 10 days, i finally got a confirmation that it was a mistake and i could drive. On further clarification from court, i was told that DVLA made the mistake.

As a result, i submitted a small claim against DVLA but it was struck down. I also received a letter from DVLA informing me that it was not DVLA fault but court fault as they entered the wrong information.

Now, what should i do next? I have 7 days to aside or to vary the order under Part 23 Rule 10. I have lost £410 issue fee as well and i am totally confused what to do.

Please help!

What were you hoping to achieve by going to court? Your name has already been cleared of any wrong-doing. Did you want the court to put a cash-value on the mistake? Did it actually stop you driving for a few days?Who advised you that the court route was a wise move?
  • Hello,

Thanks, Yes it stopped me for driving for 10 days while they investigated the matter. In that 10 days, it impacted my work and my life as my wife was expecting and she had to take the burden of driving me around and getting work done etc etc.

Again, why did you go to court over the matter? Was it really worth £410 upfront?
