Best brand of oven?

Options
We have a 28 year old Miele built-in single oven which is going to need a few new bits if we are to keep it.....new door seal and new oven lamp glass cover......cost about £40.

However, although the oven works fine it seems to be taking a long time to warm up. Whether it is taking longer than before, or just longer compared to my daughter's much newer oven, I cannot decide.

We are wondering whether we should spend money on a 28 year old oven, or whether we should bite the bullet and get a new one?

If a new one, we feel a Miele is rather expensive so have looked at Bosch, Siemens, AEG and Neff, something around £700.

Are any of these better than the others on reliability?

How long might we expect them to last? We have no intention of moving so want something that will last at least 15 years.

    Hi

Miele then. Don't even bother with the rest. You can get a Miele oven for your budget.

Think of it this way - how much did you pay for your Miele oven 28 years ago. I bet it was at least £500 so in today's money that's more £1,500!

Door seal poor = more heat escaping = longer to heat up. Lamp cover may clean up with a good soak/scrub.

Better the devil you know... keep the Miele going until something really expensive breaks.

My Electrolux/AEG built under double oven eats the main 2.5 kW fan elements... number 4 (or is that 5?) fitted now. Has also needed a new fan motor. Under nine years old. Thank goodness I can DIY.

    Where from??

I do have certain features I want, the best price I have found on an acceptable Miele model is £1100.

I don't actually have a budget. I just think that as we are pensioners, 67/73 years old, we do not need to spend that sort of money and buy an oven that will last longer than us!!

When we built the house we had an income more than twice our current pension, so could afford a Miele.

Lamp cover has unfortunately sheared off just below the screw threads, but we think we have found a suitable replacement, and luckily OH can fix pretty much anything.

Oven has had one new fan element (£40), but otherwise been great.

Leaning towards repairing, if parts will fit, it as cost not huge.
