Have you checked out the Anderton Boat Lift in Cheshire? Right on the canal and they have a permanent type marque you can hire.

The marquee isn't that nice to be honest. It's two minutes from our house but I wouldn't have had my do there

70 guests on a saturday for drinks reception and sit down meal for all- 6.5k approx but that was the vast majority of our spending- dress under £300 etc

We are a couple of minutes away too and we looked into it for a wedding do before we decided to elope and they have done it up and when I attended the lift off festival prior to this it was really nicely done up. It is cheap though!

I've been in there for the beer festivals etc in the last 6 months and it's still only ok plus the ermmmmmmmmm 'industrial architecture' isn't to everyone's taste for a back drop. I know the boat lift is a bit special, but the works are not that pretty
