Because people working in the banks want their weekends and bank holidays, like most of the rest of us do? Just a guess.
Your employer should be responsible for advising the money to the bank in time for the 1st of a month if your contract says you get paid every 1st, regardless of whether that's a working day. Does it say that?0 -
You've said it yourself, banks don't work weekends and bank holidays. It'll only change when you and the rest of the UK customer base are prepared to pay for the huge amount of coding that would be required to convert programmes (some almost 50 years old now) written to process on business days only to 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. But as you all want free banking don't hold your breath.0
