Just stumbled accross this thread, for my tuppence -
Carreg Cennen castle is just ..... Special
Tenby - this is your equvelent of Oban (without the ferries)
Big pit - An old complete coal mine, great underground tours, and even better it's FREE
Brecon - A small very pretty town with nice river walks and a museam which holds lots of information and medals from the battle of Rorkes Drift (ie the film Zulu)
The Gower on one side and the Brecon Beacons on the other, what a great choice of location.
I just have it in my head that your staying in Cilybebyll, if so the Butchers Arms in Alltwen is a good call. If it was rugby season I'd have invited you to see best side in the valley .........hmmm I wonder who that could be ..... enjoy your stay.0 -
Jamjar,
Just wondering if you enjoyed your holiday and what cheap things you found to do. Any more tips?I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -
We had a great 2 weeks in South Wales, weather was fantastic and the people we met were very friendly. We stayed in a cottage on a farm near Pontardawe.
We enjoyed visiting the following :-
Big Pit : Fantastic trip, guide was excellent too
Welsh Folk museum : Very interesting, but kids not 2 impressed.
Newport Transporter Bridge : Well worth a visit
Blackpill Lido : Kids loved it, nice and clean 2.
Mumbles Head : Nice beach, lighthouse, rock pools and rock climbs.
Worms Head : Fantastic scenery.
Pembrey Country Park : Great beach and playground for kids
Tenby : Lovely wee town
Margam Park : Lovely place - it was just a bit 2 hot the day we went
All in all a great trip and we will return soon.0 -

I'll add my vote to that too! There's a choccie making demo9 for the kids (free samples) and some of the kids go up on the platform to help with the demo.Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.0 -

Is groveland still going? We went there out of season and found ourselves amongst only a dozen or so other families - great - no queues for the dogems or go karts - fantastic value for money.
Sunday night in Llanelli is curry night. Eat as much as you can for £6.50 [adults] or £3.50 [Kids] at the bengal lancer [behind Asda]
I was very disappointed with Aberdulais Falls. we were in and out in half an hour and I was mad because it wasn't cheap. It's really boring.0
