Difference Between Soundcards?

Options
Hello,

I've been looking around for ages now, and every website I find seems to contradict the previous one...

Basically I want to buy a creative soundblaster x-fi fatal1ty soundcard, problem is I can't tell what the difference is between...

Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Platinum FATAL1TY Champion Series

and the
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Platinum FATAL1TY Pro Series

I'm assuming the champion is just a newer rehash of the pro (same spec new box) and that the pro one is being fazed out, however the specs on the usa creative website differ from the uk one. I know both come with front pc internal hubs (elite pro comes with a seperate external hub altogether incase your confused)

so any help would be greatly appreciatd, does anyone know if it is just the packaging thats changed?

I think what they come with - easily seen in their 'Package Contents' - gives it away? Both taken from the UK/Europe site (also see the tech specs for each):

Champion Series contents / Tech specs

Professional series contents / Tech specs

  • Sorry your completely right, what have I been staring at for the past few hours?

I think I saw the fatal1ty fps with a front hub and it sent me on my way, I think I'm just getting teh 'champion'it mixed up with the 'FPS' which is teh same card... that or I'm going senile

    thanks for your reply

Is there any particular reason you're going to shell out £200 on a soundcard? I've got the XFi-XTremeGamer which is 1/4 of the price and I doubt that there's a massive difference in audio quality or FPS in games.
  • It's actually £118 delivered for the one I'm after, so probably more like 1/2. depending on which one you have, (and I'm assuming it the standard retail here and not the pro due to the 1/4 comparrison) it doesn't feature the 64mb of onboard ram which apparently makes all the difference

Have a read..seems to be a good explanation. Not really any advantage in FPS but apparently you get to hear more voices.
