lastminute.com BEWARE

Sorry to see lastminute.com being promoted on this excellent website - they are to be avoided. See this email sent to them last weekend as I scrambled round to find another city break:
I have just been informed that the city break I booked and paid for this morning is not available unless I pay another £324. I am due to fly with my children tomorrow. I have asked for a refund as I could easily have turned up at the airport and found no holiday tomorrow and I can no longer trust your appalling service. I also require a refund of the £60 I have paid in airport parking. I have been unable to speak to a supervisor as the employee at the end of the phone Alish Sheikh said Mohsin Khan was not available and could not call me back. I want to make a strong, formal complaint about the way you have treated my family. I will not be booking with you again and will make sure that other consumers are warned about avoiding lastminute.com

I am not sure I have seen lastminute.com promoted on here. There are certainly reports of bad service since they were bought by Bravofly

Third Parties often do not have live pricing. There is a previous price listed to get them to the top of the "cheap flights" searches on sky scanner/kayak etc and then after you make your request for them to book as your agent, they will come back and say your request cannot be met at this price
You will find this same setup for eDreams, Opodo, Bravofy etc

For a late booking, I would always go direct to the airline
  • I've not booked with lastminute.com for a couple of years, but I always check it when booking hotels. I'd say there's been a noticeable decline in the general usability of the website itself (an increase in irritating ads, pop-ups on search and the like), plus a definite reduction in the range and value of hotels available.

I know that that's not a lot of help, but these days I generally see little advantage in not booking direct with hotels and airlines. Personally, I'd steer clear of lastminute.com.

Shame really, as it was one of the first big, successful British digital companies (even if it did nearly come a cropper during the original dotcom bust!).

That's not a particularly informative or useful first post to be fair. I've used Lastminute.com before and had excellent service. Can the OP give some further information about what exactly has happened.
  • Since they were acquired by Bravofly Rumbo last March there has been a marked increase in the number of complaints about them. Their customer service is involved in a race to the bottom

    Hardly surprising given Bravoflys reputation!

Last Minute did used to be a half decent OTA, but now they're right up there with Bravofly, Opodo/EDreams etc etc when it comes bad customer service and practices.

You have no claim for your car parking fees back. It would be down to a gesture of goodwill on behalf of LM, so don't hold your breath!
