Sky TV cables

I've just moved into a property and the sky tv cables appear to have been cut. Can I fix this or do I need to get a sky engineer out?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. That sucks they charge £25 :-(. Do you know why they would have been left like that? Thansk
  • I know the £25 covers the box, the dish and the wiring, everything is checked, anything that needs replaced will be done there and then at no extra charge. Some people think when they move out of a house they need to cut the wires so the person moving in wont use their sky but it doesnt work like that.

Where have they been cut? If it's inside the property, you could just buy some cable, a couple of connectors, and join it yourself to the existing wire.

I can't see the benefit to the previous occupant of cutting the wires, but if they were there when you viewed the property, you could always get in contact with them and see if there was an issue with the wiring? Maybe ask if there was a connection/safety issue rather than them being malicious though!

Also, do you have a current Sky subscription? If not, then just sign up as a new customer and they will come out and fit a dish/cable for free. Obviously if you were just wanting Freesat then this isn't a good idea!

Hi, maybe I'm not explaining it well. It's inside the house and it's like the end of the cable that would normally go into the Sky box has been cut.

Trying to post a pic but it seems like I can't as a new user. Below is the URL without the spaces...

You should just be able to buy whatever length of cable you need to reach from where it is cut to your Sky box, and a couple of connectors to join them both together.

I have no affiliation to the below site, just the first result I got on Google.

No. He won't. He will simply need to connect a new length of cable..

It looks to me that the F type connector has been removed. So if the receiver is going in the same place all that is needed is a new F connector.
