HiFi - Bluetooth via USB

Hello,
I bought this Sony micro HiFi a few years ago. The description on Amazon says that it can be made Bluetooth enabled by using its USB slot. However, I bought this USB Bluetooth device and the HiFi doesn't recognise it.
Does anybody know which type of USB Bluetooth device would be compatible?
Thanks,
Lenny.

Essentially a driver problem - the hi-fi isn't a computer (and a bit old now) so will only recognise the USB/Bluetooth product that Sony designed it to, not just any generic one. You'll need to find the genuine Sony one (or know what chipset it uses) otherwise it has no idea what the device you plugged in is.
You can still Bluetooth audio to the hi-fi though, by using an audio adapter that connects via the Aux In connection, like this one;

Loads of others available - that's just an example of one.0 -
Check the manuals for the bluetooth compatible spec or list of tested devices that do work.
That device gets some very poor reviews on sound quality and lacking even a basic headphone socket.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Strange - the Amazon ad does say the unit will take a bluetooth adapter but it's not mentioned in the manual. Maybe it's a mistake.

How about this:

Note - *Bluetooth music receiver is not compatible with systems that require digital audio signals.0 -
Sounds like a job for a Chromecast audio.0

Upon further inspection, the Sony machine tends to not be compatible with the docking solutions.
I recommend the OP contactts Layen They are well aware of the compatibility problems of the Sony and they will know which to utilise.0 -
Thanks for all the responses. I think I will go with the aux-Bluetooth option.
I know the stereo is poor but so am I at the moment. I'm hoping to upgrade to a Sonos system sometime but, for now, this will do.

Don't just go for the cheapest aux-Bluetooth option or you'll likely degrade the sound further.
Use these specs as a benchmark.0
