I don't know if this is the right place to post this or one of the shopping forums, but I've seen a lot of people looking for cable routers.
This is one I found and its the cheapest I've seen anywhere (delivered for £21). It was pretty easy to setup (although the instructions werent the clearest) and they have a pretty responsive online tech forum.
I have a wired and wireless connection on mine and so far the signal strength and speed have been pretty good.

(it's a Pluscom RTL8186)
Please note I don't have any connection with the company or the retailer, but as a new Virgin customer, it was frustrating having to configure the new connection so I hope this helps others in the same boat.
