BG Group Shares and Shell take over

I have owned 156 BG Group Shares since my parents passed away and I have never bothered about them until a large envelope arrived last week explaining about a take over by shell.

My shares as they stand are worth £9 something which gives me a return of around £1500 if I sold them at todays price. The leaflets and booklets are telling me my shares are worth only £3.38 ? has anyone else received anything as such and if so whats the best plan of action?
