British Gas credit check fail.. Again. Perfect credit score, backed up with Experian

Options
Tomorrow I am going to attempt to have the prepayment meters removed from my flat for probably the 3rd time. With all previous attempts British Gas have told me I have failed and that I have to wait 60 days. This has further happened with the evidence of my perfect credit report from Experian, and also after Experian representatives informing BG that my score is good.

Is there anything else I can do in this situation? Seems like an unwinnable war against a company I am not starting to detest.

Offering a large deposit might help.

are you expecting BG to replace the meters free of any charge?

Have you an outstanding debt with BG ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • It could be that BG, like many suppliers are getting hit with big losses with flat dwellers on credit meters. Possibly asking for smart meters would be a better move as their future losses are limited. To BG PAYG makes more sense for the comings and goings of flat dwellers.
OP, do you own this flat ?,because you may have to reinstate the original meter if you do get credit meters installed. Tenancy agreements have a clause about leaving the flat as you found it. There would be a cost to reinstate the meter. Scottish Power for instance charge over £200 per meter

We had the same problem and switched to EDF Energy, after 28 days on supply they are now changing us from Prepayment to Credit. No credit checks or deposits. I detest prepayment meters and we we're on credit at our previous property. When we bought this I couldn't wait to rip them out so appointment booked for the 28th January!
