Photos in My Pictures & Picasa & ipad, now combined in Google Photo's

For years, I have held my photos on my laptop which were in My Pictures then I introduced Google picasa and have used that for years to store and make changes. Rather than have the photo's in date order, I created folders ie House & Garden, Holidays, Grand chidren, Odds & Ends, and more. These folders were in both Picasa and My Pictures.

Then I bought an ipad which saved things in it's own way.

Today I have installed Google Photos on both ipad and laptop and all the photo's now appear in both. Although I have yet to test it out, I'm assuming any photo I take with the camera within the ipad, will save the photo not only in Camera Roll, but in Google Photos as well and as a result will be viewable on laptop.

What I'm not overly keen on though, is the total mix-up of photo's within Google Photos. Ideally I would like to have them in the categories/folders similar to how it was in picasa. Maybe it could be done manually, is this so? or is there another way? or is it out of the question?.

when you installed google photos you should have set it up to back up photos. just make sure if you have it installed on your phone that it is set up to only back up over wifi. otherwise you could use a lot of your mobile data

i just let google photos organise things. when you open the google app (photos.google.com) on laptop and click on search google will arrange in folders like christmas, cars, boats, paris, new york etc. very clever

Thanks, but being an oldie, an ipad and laptop is my limit. I have a smart phone but it's back in the box. Yes I saw google arranged things in THEIR way, however I have sussed out that by going though the photo's one by one, if I click on something i at the top right, I can send to an album which I have to create. Currently there are about twelve albums. Don't know if I should create all album names first, then as I go through photo's, simply send them to the appropriate album, but it's a slow process. Ideally I would like to send a few each time.
