freshers fairs

Options
This is my first ever post so be nice.
I'm going into my third year of uni and I love the freshers fairs. last year I walked away with alot of stuff includeing 26 bars of chocolate, a carrier bag of sweets, 12 cups and glasses, 8 cans of beans, cotton buds and 5l of washing up with a dozen tshirts. My fav. freebie was a ds stilus with mario in his mariocart at the end.
I thought i'd share my freshers fair tips with any syudent on the board.

1.all freshers fairs are different some have alot more freestuff than others
2.take a back pack
3.make a short email address to register at stalls with
4. once you have a stalls bag put it into a plain one so you can go back and get another later
5. go with a friend, this way you can pic up 2 of something to 'hand to them' and they can do the same later
6. go as soon as it opens
7. don't be embaressed, just take the freebies
8. if you get a good lot of freebies go back! I made 4 trips to my freshers fair over the 2 days it was on.

I hope thats helpful and if anyone has anymore feel free to post them.

Yes I agree with number one. I think the best I got was in first year which was a pint glass. Ah well.

Ours is usually great, free pizza and noodles. Last year I got some great Jack daniels goodies, with this coming year being my last I intend to take it for everything it has!!
Wins for 2022: Hydratem8 Water bottle, diary, flowers, Good food show tickets, childrens books x3,
Thanks to all who post the comps & please let the comping fairy sprinkle dust on my entries!
  • For anyone heading to Southampton, don't expect too much from the freshers fair. Its rather small and despitegoing every year for the last 3 years I have only ever come away with a few pens and a ruler. Don't get me wrong, I haven't had to buy a pen the whole time I've been at Uni but its disappointing. If you get there early there there is always free dominoes pizza but its squashed in a corner and is a nightmare to fight your way too, and there is one or 2 banks/credit cards offering free dvd players etc for signing up but thats it.
  • Do you have to be a uni student to go 2 a fair? I'm of Uni age but am going bk 2 college to do a Accounting course, can I blag my way into a Uni fair? I love pens i do!
I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!
  • I wasn't even a student last year and I bagged loads! A few off the top of my head:

    - Blagged the Orange girl into giving me free Nike football without buying contract mobile.
    - Recipe book (went for £12 on ebay) + 'organic cloth bag' (eh?)
    - Too much tatty stationary to count (pens, rulers, sticky notes etc)
My first Term begins on the 15th September – I hope that you can execute any amendment before this date.
    - Decent stationary (folders, wallets, pads etc)

    - Fresh Domino's pizza + lot of vouchers. Also SuperNoodles to keep me going. Icecream later on.
    - Alot of candy, lollypops etc
    - Cinema bag with movie vouchers, popcorn, chocolate etc
    - Can of beer
    - T-Shirt
    - Few small teddy bears
    - Condoms
    - Money off vouchers for various local shops + some supermarket ones.
    - Lots of tack such as bottle openers, glasses cleaners, yoyos, frisbees, cactus, wooden spoon etc

As you can tell, I made a day out of it! On the downside:
    - I walked out signed up to a Stduent Barclaycard even though i'm not a student (I did tell him but he couldn't understand. Made him give me four sets of free vouchers to sign up lol)

    And the unexpected side:
    - Ended up signing up to give blood, which I am still doing :D (free tea and biscuits!)
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!

I would say so yes, because you just walk into them, well at ours you do anyway.
