Just a Quick Question Lloyds or Barclays, either as a Gut feeling or your personal experience. I bank with both, but really want to choose just one.
Both Accounts are Premier Accounts, so:
With both I have a cheque book
With both I have a Visa Debit card (Barclays £990 a day from ATM’s, Lloyds £500) could never see me using that amount.
Both Local Branch although Barclays Branch is Digital Only so no counters.
Both accounts are in Credit, Barclays Pays no Interest, Lloyds does pay interest.
Both UK call centres, Barclays is a Freephone 0800 number.
Barclays has perks such as days out, Gourment club Membership, free Tea/Coffee every day, free chocolates etc from Thornton’s from time to time.
Higher daily Faster Payment limits with Barclays (Can’t see me wanting to Transfer £20k a day rather than £10k) !.
With Lloyds I have a overdraft £500 but up to £3500 available I have never used any of it, Barclays says 'No overdraft Available in online banking).
Credit card with Barclays is Amex Cashback (1%) with £5k Limit, With Lloyds is also Amex with £9.5k limit and Avois).
Can’t think of anything else really.

Please list the benefits of both "Premier" products, which of these you'd actually use, and how much you'd pay for each.gettingthere28 wrote: »Both Accounts are Premier Accounts
Not sure where your figures come from but my (free, not "Premier") Lloyds FP limit is £25K. A quick online check seems to indicate Barclays is the same.Higher daily Faster Payment limits with Barclays (Can’t see me wanting to Transfer £20k a day rather than £10k) !0 -

Lloyds is £25 per month fee, Barclays is free, Lloyds does include mobile phone insurance and AA cover, both of which I have used.
I must admit I did not know the FP Limit was £25k I always thought it was £10k.
Thanks0 -
Stay with Lloyds, but downgrade.
Then get a Nationwide FlexPlus for the benefits.0 -
I think you are mistaken as Barclay's only seem to have foreign call centres (India I think) and its certainly not a free phone number !.
In addition the daily amount from a cash machine is only about £300, and certainly not £990 !!0 -
Maybe pop along to their website and see for yourself? Here's the £990 ATM limit confirmation (subject to status)...MikeSmith61 wrote: »In addition the daily amount from a cash machine is only about £300, and certainly not £990 !!

Perhaps you missed the word "Premier" in the OP?
EDIT: And here's the 0800 number for existing "Premier" account holders...

Well a couple of things, I have just phoned Barclays as I wanted to query a Standing Order, and I can assure you it was not a UK call centre, I asked the guy on the phone if there was a number for a UK call centre and I was told there was not one, I asked the Daily cash limit and was told £300 a day, I said I though it was £990 and he said ALL barclays cards limits are £300 a day maximum.
So there it is from the horses mouth so to speak, from Barclays own Web Site its says:
"The daily limit for ATM withdrawals is £300"
"If you want to withdraw more than £300, just pop in to one of our branches. For an amount over £2,000, just give us 24 hours’ notice so we can have the money ready for you to pick up. You’ll need sufficient funds in your account for any withdrawal."
So both the Web Site and Barclays own Staff say its is not true !.
And its not that I want to doubt you, but even they say its not true, and even if it was why would any card allow £990 from a cash machine a day !.0 -
And the 0800 number does not work !, it asks you to enter your card number, fails and then its says to call the number on the back of your debit card or something similar.0

That is because you are not a "Premier" customer0 -
Certainly there are UK Barclays Call Centres, though though you can't be guaranteed to get one.0

2 questions:
1. Did you actually click the links I posted?
2. Do you know what a "Premier" account is?0
