What counts as income for a credit card application?

in Credit cards
Just that, really. I have searched and can't seem to find an answer. I'm about to do the soft search thing on here and don't know what to put down as income - is it just what I earn (Ie not v much) or what I get in tax credits and maintenance as well (quite a bit more)? Presumably when I do the actual credit card application it will be possible to differentiate between different sources of income but it's not possible on the soft search thing.

Anything that comes into the household is income whether earned (wages, salary) or unearned (benefits, interest, dividends, child maintenance). You count the lot as income.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

In theory all incoming funds is income whether or not it comes from benefits, an employer, pension, spouse, etc. In practise it varies: For example the Post Office (Bank Of Ireland UK) Matched Credit Card specifies minimum annual income of £8000 excluding unemploymeny benefits. So read the small print.0
