La Defence is a little way out as Pompey Pete says but public transport fine. Search What's on Paris. Depending on your interests there are the flea/antique markets at Cligancourt Saturday & Sunday. Good range of small interesting shops behin Rue Rivoli towards Bastille. Sad but true we spent a day in BHV department store with rooftop restaurant opposite City Hall otherwise get yourself a guide book from library and wander. Fixed price menu's are generally good value, cheaper to eat inside rather than outside terrace. Meals much better value than snacks unless you buy baguettes/crepes wine cheaper than beer or soft drinks0
