Garage door problems
thestens
We had a new garage door fitted in June. It was fitted wrongly and the company returned to refit it, by mutual agreement, after we had been on holiday in September. In the process the frame was scratched and the touch up they attempted was unsatisfactory. We e mailed photos and rang and on the phone they said they needed to order a new frame. Since then we have heard nothing. We haven't paid (cost is £1000+).
Recent rains have caused the sealant down the sides to dissolve, leaving a sticky white mess - obviously the wrong sort used. We have also noticed that some of the paint is starting to peel away at the bottom of the door.
We have lost all confidence in the ability of the company to rectify the issue and are wondering if they have decided to just cut their losses with the door. We certainly won't be paying for it as it is but if they don't claim payment, we would attempt to rectify the faults ourselves for now and eventually buy a new one from someone else. At present we are loath to do anything to it.
How long do the company have to rectify the faults and to ask for payment? What should we best do?

6 yrs to chase you for payments , I suggest that you write to them by first class post with proof of posting stating that they have "x" number of days to complete the job , at which point you will pay them , or after that time you will arrange for it to be removed and an alternate one fitted , the door can by collected by appointment , but you will be charging a storage fee after "x" days.Save a Rachael

But I really don't want them to complete the job! I have no faith, considering the faults listed above and the lack of communication, that they can do a better job! So where does that leave us?0

you have to give them a chance , perhaps they are having internal communication problems , ie sales think the job is done , but the workshop don,t know about the outstanding repairSave a Rachael
