My feeling is you are probably right. These companies generally want the business and had I not actually noticed it, might have never realised it was even there. But it's worth pointing out to companies (everywhere not just energy) if their terms that are over the top or unworkable. Otherwise we just end up with more and more bad, unjust or unnecessary terms.

I've pretty much got the answers now so thanks to everyone who took the time to add their 2 pennth. Useful points all.

I have received the following reply. It's just an excerpt of the email:

...I can confirm that GB Energy Supply would not demand a Meter Reading from you at any time.

However, we do normally send out automated Email reminders each month asking you to provide a Meter Reading if you wish. But you would be under no obligation to provide one if this wasn't at your convenience. ...

So I guess this answers it all. I hope this may be of use to any other mse users. I have just pushed through my request to switch so we'll see how it goes. Thanks again
