I've been asked for proof of my degree, but not GCSE's or A Levels. I work in investment banking, middle office.

i've completely lost mine as well as my university certificates. a lot of companies hire vetting companies that do education checks, wondering now what those checks cover - is it just uni? being freelance i'm checked all the time (for something, unsure what).

This may be a daft question, but I assumed you were an apprentice, going by your username? :D

Maybe they look at your CV, see what you've done in the past, the way your CV is formed and how you interview or come across. From there they judge you and decide whether you look like you have the credentials you claim to have. As for degrees, half the time they don't even ask for that, probably because everyone and their dog has one.

Not daft at all, it was what came to mind when making a username. Maybe i had watched the apprentice, i dont know, its been years i think.. I've not had the pleasure of being one though.

Oh ok that makes more sense.......as an apprentice would be asked for their GCSE certs :rotfl:

I am always asked for mine, but I have nearly always worked in education, so that makes sense!

the vetting companies can check all this stuff, simple call to the university academic services team (different names, different universities).

funny, though, I worked with one of the contestants of the bbc apprentice once (long after her being on the show). no names, but she now works for a decent uni as a consultant. memory recalls. she was very good at her job (good for her!) :-)
