iamsalt - I definitely need to get back to shredding when I get home!! So many files
Jackie O - going great guns on the savings and C time savings - really need to get my act together re being organised for that time of year!! (Tho do have a few pressys!)
Well, anger gone as tenant got sorted due to the face I could prove with invoices; dates of meetings with tradesmen; dates of phone calls etc that I had been a good landlord so nerrr!!
Will get back to frugaling when I get home!(also trying not to spend too much while here and keep within a set budget!)

Morning mmmers Sorry Been busy.
Hope everyone is well. You all sound really busy as well.
It's half term here this week so trying to fit loads in.
Did all mils diy, mended her porch panelling and leaky roof, cleaned out guttering and painted her back fence with wood stain.
Did a tip run and minimised a load of junk including a couple of mattresses
Got up to date on the shredding and put it out for recycling.
Moved ds1s room round swapped his bed over. Hoping to give the bed he had to a work friend once she's back off her hols, it was a bunk with a futon settee underneath and much too big for his room, it blocked all the light as the top bunk cut right across the window. His room looks so much better now.
Had new landing and staircarpet fitted yesterday, so plan another tip run with the old stuff plus mils leaky waterbutt
Made mushroom soup for lunch yesterday and a hm veggie lasagne for tea.
Did some birthday and Christmas wrapping as well yesterday so that's allstuff that can be given away when I get the chance.
Sorted a bag of paperbacks I've read out for my mum, she can have those as soon as I get the chance,SPC~12 ot 124

Morning MMMers
Seems like ages since I posted as I've generally not been doing much to report. I have been doing a lot of painting at the new flat so been busy with that. My parents have donated some crockery and cutlery for the new flat and also said that they would put some money towards getting a washing machine which is lovely of them
I'm working today so better finish my coffee and get organised. Lunch is prepared and I've taken out chicken breasts for tea. Leeks will feature somewhere in the meal as there seems to be rather a lot in the fridge.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Morning all, have been cracking on with knitted squares for my charity blankets and am slowly reducing my wool stash.
Still trying to get through the stuff in the freezer.I am hoping to get it down before Christmas so I can defrost it ready for the 'bargains' in January:):)I swear the stuff multiplies in there
:):)
Not buying any more food stuff until next month though as I have more than enough bits in the cupboard and my 'big' shop last week topped up all my fruit and veg So will be making do with everything at the moment
No mending that I can find as I have been doing bits as I ironed them Last week I had to replace some 'poppers' that had disintegrated in the washing machine off my duvet covers
Sun is shining at the moment so after doing my veg prep for the week I may have a walk around the country park after listening to The Archers on my Tivo box I record Sundays omnibus, I know how to live it up don't I:):)
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

Hello, I just thought I'd pop in to say hi. Although I hardly ever post, I read this thread regularly. Its lovely to hear about you all doing your bit. I've done some minimising today, well sort of. Hubby got a gift card from his work in recognition of a work anniversary so we bought a new TV. He loves his sport so we put a bit of money towards it and got a lovely big super-duper TV. Our old one worked but it has a shadow at the top of the screen in the corner which annoys him when football is on. Anyway, apart from that there was nothing wrong with it. I really didn't want to throw it away, so I took it round to DS who is about 40 miles away at uni. He is delighted with it. We set it up, great picture, sorted. I came back with his much smaller TV, which I'm putting in step-DS's room here. I'm not being mean, he's hardly here and seldom watches TV in his room. The very small TV that was there will be donated to local charity. Quite the TV merry-go-round. Don't feel bad about donating the smallest TV. It may suit a caravanner.
Also been weeding in the front garden if that counts as minimising. DH is in the back garden sorting out the last of the tomato and chilli plants. He is sharing the chillies out at work as I'm not fond of them and we have had a bumper harvest this year.
Going to minimise a few things on ebay too. Had some good sales recently so some welcome funds coming back into the bank.
Not much making do or mending going on but I'm with you in spirit!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

chickadee what a great idea to go on a TV merry-go-round
. a few years ago we did this with a car which went around about four different family members until it eventually went to the scrap yard
. I do my best to find a home for things that I am recycling. My books that I get from my sis-in-law in Faversham have already come from her sister in Essex
then from me they go to my friend in Dartford, and from there to her other friend in Hertfordshire, who in turn passes them on to another housebound lady in Nottingham .So they visit Essex,Kent (three different folk)Hertfordrshire and end up in Nottingham in the space of 6 months
No doubt they go further after that but nothing is binned.
My DD's say I could recycle for England at times as I just hate to see anything wasted at all.0 -
Hi folks,
Managed to make it to half term!
Day one has been spent sleeping and being a cat prop.
Ma is going through all the old photos. Is it bad that I seem to have no inclination to keep them? Not looked at them pretty much since we took them. Even the ones from school trips.
Keep pets and cakes because they are good, but just not feeling the others.
On the other mmm front, will see how the hols go.Mad teaching cat woman trying to be more frugal and fun0 -
Minimised 20 DVDs by taking them to work today and leaving them in the staff room with a note saying to help yourselves and that any left on Friday will go to the CS. Dh took three to work and ones in a bag for my mum when I next go over hers.
Some mags went out for recycling, a bag full of cushions came down from the attic ready for the next visit to the CS. Finished a book that will go over mums. Saw my sister at the weekend and she took a bag of family birthday presents and some books with her for my mum.
Gave a metal bunk bed/sofa bed to a friend at the weekend after a game of bed Tetris resulted in a spare.
Dh made do with some left over lasagne for his lunch and I had toast as I've still got a bit of a cold so no appetite
Got a couple of things on the mending pile so will do this this afternoon.
I hope everyone is as well as they can be.SPC~12 ot 124

Our plumber can't make it until after xmas to plumb the new kitchen in, so I will have to make do with 2 half kitchens until then. At least this xmas we will have the gas hob!!!! and not the 2 camping gas stoves. Our kitchen refurb is a long job with us saving up and paying for each bit as we go along. Its a challenge, but the way we have chosen to live our lives.
I have 'mended' 4 pairs of Dad's trousers, new ones from the MandS sale but they are too long, so I have shortened them
I have minimalised a book of DS'S The Mistletoe Bride that I have just read and an old sieve that OH is going to make into a lamp!!!!Now Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j0
