Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2016

Evening all
Been treating myself very gently today - but with yoga and wheatbags pain level is almost down to normal. At least I can now sit and lie in comfort!
Even managed a small walk for half an hour (with a sit on a convenient bench in the middle!) Then a small glass of wine to act as an anesthetic - I am not allowed to take painkillers as was over prescribed them in the past so have to use alternative methods.
Still (counting blessings) at least I now have the time to look after myself!
BTW the shoes I ordered did arrive and the driver was puzzled as to why his colleague had not called me as they had my number!!

Good Morning chums and day 6 of NSD today.I have been doing well shopping from my freezer stores and have enough I think now to make it to Saturday before I need to buy anything. Then it will only be essentials that I have run out of.
Tonight's dinner will be a large sweet jacket spud and piles of salady bits. Its surprising what you can wallop on the plate to bulk out a salad Grated carrot & cheese, some beetroot, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, diced bit of red onion,a hard boiled egg will soon make the plate look pretty full along with the jacket spudfor pud I have some grapes and a chopped up apple and an orange so it will not only be a filling dinner but fairly healthy as well:) Last of the leek and potato soup for lunch with some philly-type cheese and crackers.Breakfast will be porridge and a little milk.So not only minimising my food stocks ,but hopefully my waistline :)and making do at the same time
No mending to do, but I do have some charity squares to sew together then knit the border around this morning.
Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing
Cheers chums

Hiya all
Well done Jackie O - a very healthy day!!!
I am not doing quite so well on this front as opted for a chicken pie on YS in the Co-op yesterday on my second day of gentle walkies. This will be used over two days I wasnt sure I could stand long enough to cook and this was an easy option. V tasty I have say fair amount of chicken in it too. I make my chicken pies with white sauce which is half milk half gravy from a roast and include sweetcorn and sometimes peas so this, being just a gravy one was not as tasty as HM but, for a commercial and only gravy and convenience meal it was v good.
Actually feel better again today and walked about half of a normal walk. The great thing about walking in Hayle is that if you have had enough there is usually a seat not far away!Have also managed to do a few chores today and get on the floor to do a proper yoga session!! Ergo much better.
Make do: apart from pie all other foods from stores
Mend: me and my slippers - top had come from sole so a good old stitch up needed and they'll last abit longer
Minimise: While not being very mobile I have minimised paperwork and filing and my stash of stuff recorded on Sky box (am going away and so need to create space in it!)
Sky sounds extravagant but it was my big treat to myself upon retirement - especially as there is no cinema nearby.
Tomorrow I am off up to my friends to dog sit for her while she goes away with her Mum on a coach trip (they do this each year). So will be happily doggiefied for the next week!!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone. I've been reading when I can but life's taken over a bit recently. No real problems just busy with kids, extra work and elderly parents one of whom has dementia.
I do find that although not perfect I am beginning to MM&M more instinctively so I have tried really hard to maintain that mindset even though I haven't been posting.
Yesterday:
Make do. Had freezer left overs for lunch and dinner and had stewed apples from mum and dad's tree and an almost past it banana rather than buying more fruit.
Minimise - I was going to say my freezer as I used a large bag of chicken breasts to batch cook curry and got enough for three family meals and three lunch size portions by padding it out with onions and frozen peppers, a pack of turkey mince padded out with breadcrumbs and veg made two family size portions of spag Bol sauce plus three lunch portions and some sprouty potatoes became 6 portions of leek and pot soup. Although I cleared some freezer and cupboard stocks I put back more than I got out so I'm not sure that counts:rotfl:
Mend - a small tear in my walking boots with waterproofing glue. They weren't letting in water but it was only a matter of time.
PP xOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.

Got lots of MMM to do this weekend starting with a tip & Cs run of rags, wood & cardboard.
Then I have crab apples to make into rosemary jelly and l/o spag bol for lunch.
After that, I have some crafting to start for Xmas gifts, mainly button art and scented candles using my stashes, but also want to slice & dry some y/s citrus fruit for pot pourri.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi all
Delurking to say Floss how do you make pot pourri from citrus fruit pretty please? it sounds delightfully natural.
I've decluttered the menfolk for the day. Trainman is out at his model railway club's open day and DS is out with his girlfriend so all quiet here.
Have a good day.

Gintot, I just googled it
it's just pine cones, cinnamon sticks, dried citrus slices & dried star fruit. It smells gorgeous!

Often you see pine trees in or near graveyards for some reason. I went for my first food shop this month and managed to spend £17.83 on essentials and fresh fruit and veg but £4.25 of that was 6 x 1 litre cartons of UHT milk so fingers crossed no more shopping to buy for at least another 10 days.
Been knitting, and minimising my stash of recorded movies on my TiVo box as well.
Mended a hook that had come adrift from the wall in my kitchen which I like to hang my car keys on
Hope you all have agoodweekend I m going to try to walk a few lbs off in the next few weeks as my eldest DGS Danny is getting married on Christmas Eve:):)so I want a nice new outfit for that
Have a good evening chums
