Hi Lyn at our holiday house someone has left half a bag of sweet potato's, any chance of the curry recipe as there are some odds and ends in the cupboard that's been left as well ?

I have some left over lasagne from last night that I will have for dinner tonight, and the boys want sausage and jackets,DD and her OH are going out for a meal as its their wedding anniversary. So most meals today are sorted

  • Well I am still no better so its trail and error, with the medication to see which one is making me unwell.
I have had to stop knitting .
I have had splints put on both hands at the moment, my fingers are bending and sticking I think its called trigger finger.
I will try and see if I can find some one local who knits as my DD really wants some knitted and crochet items.
The minimising still going but very slowly, the CS are very pleased with what I have sent some far all winter clothes.

In the spirit of making do, we went to "listen" to Bryan Adams, last week, at the Lytham Festival. We parked down a side st, adjacent to the stage, took drinks n nibbles, n it was brilliant :j Two hours of fab, free entertainment

JackieO you can use sweet potato the same as regular potato, or cooked in cubes with the tiniest amount of black pepper over them

  • This weekend I've minimised all my bedding and just kept the bare minimum.
Hubby has fitted a basin in the ensuite and made do with the existing pipework where possible.
I haven't mended anything but I am starting another crochet blanket.
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning all.
Candygirl - I love Lytham and have been to a few of the festival events in the past. We did think about going to see Bryan Adams but the number of times I have been to outdoor events and the weather has been less than balmy makes me really cautious now. Sounds like you have found a way around it and for free too. I shall take note for next time.
We had slow roast lamb yesterday (YS of course) and I used up some sweet potatoes lurking in the fridge by roasting them with some carrots and red onions. It was delicious, so much so that there were no leftovers for the poor dog, just a bone for her to chew on.
I have quite a pile of mending mounting up, mainly winter coats with holes in pockets or missing buttons, which has started me thinking about winter and Christmas, despite the promised good weather we are supposed to be getting over the next few days.

  • Make do, I made a salad for lunch from all the bits and pieces in the fridge.
Mended, I found a hole in my dress and I repaired it.
Minimised, today I listed 66 CD's on Music Magpie, I made £14.75 and cleared 2 more shelves.
    Chin up, Titus out.

H/H that's a job I want to do when I get home as I have far too many CDs just stuffed in a box that rarely get listened to. Also I have a 'Vintage Cow' set of labels and I must sort out some old odds and ends to send off to them. My to-do list is far too long, and when I get back from my holidays it will be my first job, getting rid of some stuff I have accumulated .

I used up the sweet potato in a sort of savoury potato bake .There is a rayburn cooker where we are staying and its handy for bunging things on the bottom shelf and leaving as it takes ages to cook anything and also ages to cool down afterwards :)so half a bag of slightly wrinkly sweet spuds got used up :) Today I think we are off to Sandown Beach as the weather is looking good I managed to get a new kite for my grandsons and their Dad to play with :):):)

A friend gave me two pairs of work trousers, but she is about a ft smaller than I am. She had them taken in, but never cut off the excess (it made for a very wide seam). I have unpicked all four seams, and they actually fit! I have to figure out a way to make a very small seam now. Even if they are not perfect, and definitely not something I would have bought in a shop, they are good neat work trousers, and will bulk out my work wardrobe for another year, to bring some variety. I try to spend as little as possible on my work wardrobe, seeing as the dresscode is 'business smart', but I don't get a penny for my wardrobe budget. (The dresscode used to be 'strictly business', which was suits only. I had three suits, and a few trousers/tops combinations that they thought were acceptable. I didn't care if I repeated my clothes all the time. I prefer to spend my money on my 'me-time/at home' outfits.)
