  • Been out in the garden most of today, de-weeding and putting in bulbs. minimised kale that was starting to turn and made up a cheese and garlic sauce to go with it. The garlic was starting to sprout so have popped it in the garden. Also bought some carnations and have put the sprigs in water to root so I can put them in the garden and get some extra carnations later on in the year. Minimised my filiing letter rack and done a load of shredding which had gone into compost bin. Mended my vest top as it had a hole in it, just hope it stays ok otherwise it will be a bed top.

Had an amazing day with family just walking in the sunshine. What beautiful weather! Me and littly both caught the sun
Made do - didn't have a stir fry sauce for tonight's dinner as I made a boo-boo and thought we had some. Used stir fry oil, some honey and some tomato pur!e. It was yummy!
Mended - not technically mending but I shortened a pair of Winnie the Pooh curtains bought from the CS for £3 for my little boy's room
Minimised - used some of the country soup mix I have in the cupboard to bulk out mince for a shepherds pie. Not sure what else I can do with it other than making 'country soup'?
Busy organising an egg hunt for the children in the village for tomorrow. Hope the weather isn't too awful..at least for the morning
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, even if they don't enjoy the hour less in bed tomorrow night!

Dont know how this counts as make do, mend or minimise but today I have spent looking after other folks. My not very well off friend came round for lunch - some of it was made from my shop the other day but much of it came from stores still!! I still have tons of noodles and ground rice!! Amazing stuff! How little you need to create a meal!!:j
She went home with leftovers in the guise of helping me out but eating stuff up - it will give her a meal + a couple of days cake - she gets 'paid' (as she calls it - she is a pensioner with only the basic pension as she doesnt have a full set of years contributions) again on 26th but is going to her daughter's for Easter Sunday so she will eat there!

Then I went and helped my friend move house by moving two car loads to their new gaff. His Dad is helping tomorrow and I will give help again on Sunday with the last bits. :rotfl:

So make do: me as a removal person rather than hiring a van???? Or bits used from stocks for meal??? :rotfl:
Mend - hopefully helped my pensioner friends finainces and mended her emotionally a bit, as, once again, I was a listening post. I did try to say how stressed I was recently what with all the forms and surveyors of moving house and my car dying and then having to get a new one. but she wasnt that interested in listening - which was a shame - she used to be a good listening post too!
Minimise - well me and my house moving friend went for a really good walk after all the box moving in the beautiful sunset - which was a reward in itself. :D
Hope everyone had a good day

Hello folks back from our pre Easter break, the weather was very very kind to us so we got out and about in the sunshine. DGS was on the beach most days either in the morning or late afternoon.
Make do - food we took with us, I did a meal plan included some of the 28p potatoes from MrM's they had 4 large ones in a bag did 2 lunches as jackets. Only extra food purchased was 6 magnums for £2 from Heron, this was much cheaper than buying from the van near the beach.
No mending last week but today I've finished off a 4 ply little matinee jacket for the new baby.
Minimised curry from freezer yesterday for evening meal along with rice, naan bread and some sides. Today 2 boxes of chilli gave come out for today's evening meal. I put 3 pints of milk into 1 pint bottles and put into freezer as we won't use it before it goes out of date. So it will have 2 days to use by when it comes out of there. Washing done and we are all back up to date with everything.
Hugs to all those who needs one.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

Went to Mr M this afternoon. The look like they are doing the supersix that Ald! do, carrots, onions, broccoli, swede, and potatoes all @ 28p other was cabbage and I have some.

The were reducing things like mad. Bought six large bowls of salads @ 19p each plus a ploughman's and a chicken salad also 19. Put out on the table with some cooked meat no cooking. All bowls of salads, veg pakora, noodles, coleslaw, couscous with chickpeas and sundried tomatoes, pasta were all dated 28th so as they have barely gone down lots to last until Monday. Will fry chicken breasts with spices to have with them tomorrow.

If the rain had not come down line stairods as I left I think I would have gone back as they were reducing lots of stuff I could have put in the freezer like meat and fish. I did get 4 chicken kievs for 69p got two.

Thought I was going to get lots of frozen samosas for 39p a box. I picked them up they were chocolate YUK. Told DS he said YUK too.

I think you would have enjoyed this shop HOWMUCH.

some of you may remember that we have redone the bathroom - almost everything is new - but, I did want to keep the white ceramic shell bowl one of the kids bought me (it is really handy for keeping bits and bobs in). it looked all wrong in white. my colour scheme is turquoise to go with all the shades of gray in the tiles. so I coloured it with a promarker alcohol pen from my craft stash. I am thrilled with it!
Minimise - made a pompom wreath with some of my wool stash.
Mend - my kitchen scissors - the handle snapped right where the edge of your fingers go - a bit of duct tape took care of that! I wasn't going to chuck a pair of really good scissors because they pinched me!
oh and I finally managed to get the toggle buttons for granddaughters jacket I knitted her from Aldis fluffy wool. I just hope it still fits her!

Have just had a really lazy day today. My get up and go had got up and gone on vacation! Does this happen to other folks too? I have basically watched the Inspector Linley mysteries, cooked a bit washed up and done one load of washing (dried on line and rescued before the rain came down).

Does anyone else have days like this? I tend to feel v guilty when I do this but the next day am usually invigorated and get loads done. Just today I felt I needed to give in.

Make do: food from stores and left overs
    Mend: nowt :(
Minimise: some food stocks and sorted a bit of paperwork and added to the 'get rid of' book pile.
Will do better tomorrow - onwards and upwards!

Morning Lyn, yes I have those days too, but I call it listening to my body, but I suffer from not doing anything guilt too, although this gets less over time as I realise that it helps me do all the things I want to do. People are always surprised when asking what I do on holiday, expecting it to be packed with activities, but in fact I rest, read and recharge. Yesterday afternoon I had a lovely nap which was most refreshing. I listened to a podcast on the benefits of naps, I shall see if I can find it.

Had a lovely walk to the farmers market yesterday with the dogs and got prawns and smoked haddock to go with freezer ingredients for a fish pie last night.
We made the next batch of beer so that is bubbling away, I sowed more veg seeds and potted on a house plant that desperately needed it, using pots I have already, I minimised leftovers to my mum and several pieces of rubbish collected on our walk which came from a certain fast food chain starting with M. It makes me furious that people chuck it out of their cars, miles from the nearest store, OH and I were discussing presenting it back to the nearest store but thought that might be going too far.

Today will be fixing the en suite door (we did preEaster with the family last week) and pub quiz tonight. I might even sort through a pile of papers, oand I must arrange some car insurance after making sure that I don't get auto renewed .

Happy Easter to all our fellow MMMer's
NurseMaggie yes that's my kind of shop and you've got a good date to use them by, my last YS kept for about 5 days past the date on them.
We're heading over to DD for the Easter egg hunt DS will be there too we are all pooling the eggs for DGS to find. Hopefully he will get the yest of it as he now gets the concept of cards and presents which he didn't this time last year. We recorded the program the A word last week whilst we were away but DH couldn't watch it as it upset him too much as the little boy in that was 5 and our little man is just 3 and half. I stuck with it and hope that the play shows a true example of life with an Autistic Child our little Roo is lucky with mum being a GP she picked up on it over a year ago and we are further along the process than them.
Sorry about that but people don't always see out of the box and acceptance is the most important thing to us all.
Hugs to those who need them x

My little man was 4 when he got his "label" after 12months of assessments I found the show uncomfortable to watch :( it brought home lots of memories. My Superman is almost 8 now and has come on leaps and bounds recently, the lack of party invites has long since gone and he has found a roup of friends at school that he just "fits" :T:T

Making do: Food from stores today, switching recipies to suit what we have. Our Dining table is ready for the tip but will have to do until we can save for another, I've stuck a pretty spotty cover on it!
Mend: the blinking Dining table's wonky leg for the umpteenth time!
Minimize: Me! sticking to my SW plan..... The little Hinges... their easter chocolate :rotfl: Some Yarn from my stash to knit some little baby hats and crochet a giraffe!
