My son's iphone 5c will not charge. We have cleared out any fluff from port, checked charger is working and still no luck. Cannot get to an apple store, is there anything else we can try at home or would you recommend just taking to a phone shop to fix? It is quite an old phone but we have just changed to a sim only deal so do not want to change the phone.

How did you clear the fluff out? I had this problem, picked out some little bits then ended up using cocktail stick (carefully) and it was incredible what was stuffed up at the back of it. That sorted it for me, and I'd have never have thought of doing it before seeing a forum thread recommending it.

You can send it off to apple to fix, if it is out of warranty I think they will charge a fixed fee.

Try resetting it by holding both the power and home button down for a couple of seconds.
