Skinny Latte's Mortgage Mugging

'They' (whoever 'they' are) always used to say you should leave a fridge 24 hours for the gas to settle before switching if on. Not sure if that's still the case, or if there was ever any truth in it?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I didn't really understand the point of our milk frother as I don't drink coffee, but then I discovered chai tea latte mix.
Should try hot chocolate, too.

The current plan of action is to leave it for a few days and see if a) it goes away or b) I get used to it.

Well four months...where did that go? I've written in this diary a hundred times at least in my head, but its never got as far as the key board, and why not? I think that's because I've just not been very good at the frugal thing recently, in fact for a while, in fact since I paid off my debt.
The interest free debt I took to pay for some home improvements nearly 2 years ago, assuming I'd pay it back in 12 months, still has £4500 left to go, and I've only made £400 in mortgage overpayments since I took it out a year ago. So my morgage mugging is no more than a light tickle
SO what have I been spending my money on over the last 4 months? Well, some very sensible home improvements like work on the drive which now gives us parking for 3 cars not 2, a revamp of the patio, horrid old pavers up and shiny new gravel down (3 tonne shifted with my own fair hands) and a brand new shiny bathroom, that I've not yet had the bill for, but will deplete my emergency fund, not to mention having to have the electrics upgraded at £850
Well that's the sensible stuff, I also admit to spending to much on clothes, shoes, posh nights out and holidays (did I mention the new car?)
I've fallen off the wagon, regressed, relapsed, degenerated
I don't have a plan to get back on track, but I need one. I must do another SOA and take stock. I'll be back soon. :embarassePay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

Good to see you back, SL! At least you spent some money on useful home improvements - that should increase the value of your house a bit as well?
Always sobering to have to re-analyse spending/budget, but every time I do I find it worthwhile in the end.0 -
And you had the house improvements from a position of financial strength. Relighting of LBM and you'll be into it with renewed vigour!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
