'They' (whoever 'they' are) always used to say you should leave a fridge 24 hours for the gas to settle before switching if on. Not sure if that's still the case, or if there was ever any truth in it?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I didn't really understand the point of our milk frother as I don't drink coffee, but then I discovered chai tea latte mix. :o Should try hot chocolate, too.

(For anyone looking for a bargain - £1 from IKEA!)

Finally, after a very long search purchased a new fridge freezer, £100 off gumtree, I get it home, all filled up and plugged in, looks fab and has lots of space...then starts making this wirring sound, after lots of googling it might need a new fan. The current plan of action is to leave it for a few days and see if a) it goes away or b) I get used to it.

    Is it a Samsung?

That's a bit sucky about the freezer- hope it settles itself down!

I love my milk frothier-was worried it'd b a fad style appliance but I use mine every weekend for quick posh coffees

The milk frother was indeed a fad, I need to sell it!

The freezer died a very un dignified death shortly after purchase, and was replaced by a very cheap but stylish brand new model with a 3 year warranty!

Well four months...where did that go? I've written in this diary a hundred times at least in my head, but its never got as far as the key board, and why not? I think that's because I've just not been very good at the frugal thing recently, in fact for a while, in fact since I paid off my debt.
The interest free debt I took to pay for some home improvements nearly 2 years ago, assuming I'd pay it back in 12 months, still has £4500 left to go, and I've only made £400 in mortgage overpayments since I took it out a year ago. So my morgage mugging is no more than a light tickle :(
SO what have I been spending my money on over the last 4 months? Well, some very sensible home improvements like work on the drive which now gives us parking for 3 cars not 2, a revamp of the patio, horrid old pavers up and shiny new gravel down (3 tonne shifted with my own fair hands) and a brand new shiny bathroom, that I've not yet had the bill for, but will deplete my emergency fund, not to mention having to have the electrics upgraded at £850
Well that's the sensible stuff, I also admit to spending to much on clothes, shoes, posh nights out and holidays (did I mention the new car?)
I've fallen off the wagon, regressed, relapsed, degenerated
I don't have a plan to get back on track, but I need one. I must do another SOA and take stock. I'll be back soon. :embarasse

Good to see you back, SL! At least you spent some money on useful home improvements - that should increase the value of your house a bit as well?

Always sobering to have to re-analyse spending/budget, but every time I do I find it worthwhile in the end.

And you had the house improvements from a position of financial strength. Relighting of LBM and you'll be into it with renewed vigour!
