Glorious day today and I put the garden to bed, I think I will ache a bit tomorrowI I washed out all the pots, cleared the beds, swept and cleaned out the green house. That will be it for this year except for sweeping up the leaves but I need a few windy days to get the rest of the leaves to ground. Great successes this year: tomatoes, outdoors were better than indoors I picked the last few today. All the soft fruits were good this year, but my apricot tree provided about 4 apricots! My flowers were all great the garden was a riot of colour from May until the frosts this week. Runner beans and berlotti beans were hopeless. A mixed year. Can't wait for next years growing season. As always I have big plans, don't we all?

This is probably my biggest downer from growing my own:

The weather dropping below freezing these last few nights probably means this will be the last of the fresh peppers and chillies from my greenhouse for this season. Only one of the plants looks hardy enough to survive much longer. :(

Still - I expect a lovely warming chilli-fry-up tonight, washed down with plenty beer! :D

Queen of cheap, Fruitea - Are you starting off a '2018 grow your own dinner' or have I missed the change over? Thanks

Hi Zafiro Good to hear from you and Happy New Year.
I'm keen to see a new thread. Looking back it was Ditzy that started the thread I think she's run it for the last two years - so I hope she'll run it again as I learned so much and found it very helpful. Also I got one of those grow light things for Xmas - so I'm keen to get a start on with some chillis soon. I might pm her to give her a prompt but it's early days yet.
    All the best for now.
