Hi, possibly stupid question here.
Will insurers let you pay a big chunk of your premium up front and put the rest on instalments? I save through the year to pay for my car insurance up front, but owing to a small accident a few months ago pushing the premium up I think I will be about £200 short for my renewal at the start of Feb.
Ideally, I would like to pay as much as I could up front and keep the monthly payment as low as possible. Do insurers allow this?

Some will some will be its in full or monthly, Some insurers do not charge extra for monthly payments so maybe worth paying monthly.
Company x may accept it but not bve competetive for you.

It definitely pays to shop around.
You may find some insurers will charge you a hefty APR (along the lines of sub-prime lenders like Capital One) for paying in instalments.
One work around (which I've done myself, assuming there's no fee for paying by credit card) is to use a credit card that's got 0% on purchases. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
If you ring, most companies should let you pay a bigger deposit. Then you can spread the remaining balance over instalments.0
