Hi
Can anyone help please.
I have a reasonably new pc running windows 10 upgraded in the summer.
I have a number of USB3 ports and am trying to connect a WD hard drive but it's not recognized.
I have a usb 3 cable and when I plug it into the standard usb port it is recognised.
I have a feeling it used to work before upgrading to windows 10 but I used the HD infrequently as a back up so can't be 100% sure but pretty sure it did.
Done a bit of googling but can't seem to find an answer so can anyone help?
Thanks
Wizzer

it sounds like the USB drivers aren't installed. on some machines USB ports do not work at all without drivers. Go into the device manager and check for any devices showing an errorThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Yes some USB3 ports require a special driver. Look on the manufacturers website for a specific USB3 driver.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
