So just a quick question. Do I list everything I've recycled, CS, and binned? (obviously not normal rubbish so forth :) )

    Thanks QP

Only managed to notch up a pitiful 283 things so far this year, but we're now decorating the house to get ready to move, so must start getting rid of more stuff.

    Hiya QP,

    Welcome, welcome.
I'm only counting the things I wouldn't get rid of normally. So I would not count a toilet roll inside, but I would anything I sell, freecycle or throw away that I wouldn't normally in my day to day.

However, if I have a sort out of the food cupboards and chuck stuff that's out of date, I count that.

So a bit of both :rotfl:
Or exactly as you've just described!:D:o

Got rid of loads so going to list them!

    Boxes 16
    Toys 23
    Blinds 5
    Wood 4
    Bags of papers 3
    Locks 10
    Gloves 9
    Clothes 93
    Print cartridges (bags of) 24
    Books 16
    Handbags 5
    4 pairs of pants
    3 pairs of socks
    Inflatables 3

and a tent, a phone, connector, water heater, boots, fluffy boots, trike, gas fire, metal box file, body board and a computer.

    So 229 + 1170 = 1399 :)

And no one has noticed anything yet. Strangely although a lot of stuff has gone I don't feel any tidier yet. I think it is because most of that has gone I had hidden away anyway

18 bottles of old medicine - Bin
1 ride on tractor - SIL
    2 cake tins - SIL

    Now at 1420 phew!

Wow MsC that's really impressive !! You've inspired me to get back to it this weekend. I've done nothing this week so far as I've been busy & fed-up with the weather. :(

Thanks. I'm looking at stuff differently and the amount of stuff is getting me down so it needs to go.

Still don't feel like i've scratched the surface

I got way- layed over the past week due to busy-ness followed by fed-up-ness. Feeling back on track today so I hit the loft:

244-252 - 8 large cardboard boxes from the loft - rationalised storage. (recycling)
253 - huge and broken storage box - rubbish
    254 - Xmas serving dish
    255 - picture frame
    256 - Nail polish
    257 - ornament
    258 - broken crate (rubbish)
    259 - tin
    260-271 11 x seasonal decorations
    272 - keyboard
    273 - frame
    274 -292 - 18 items of clothing
    292-296 - 4 x filing cases (recycling)
    296 - 303 - 7 x bowls & plates
    304-305 - 2 x cardboard boxes

I have to say that felt GREAT!! and my loft looks amazing - everything is in order and I can get to everything. There's probably still some stuff that could go but mostly its seasonal stuff.

Feeling really quite proud of myself :A

All to CS unless otherwise stated:

306 - old blanket (textile recycling)
    307 - desk tidy
    308 - organza jewellery bags
    309 & 310 - 2 embarrassingly badly worn pairs of knickers - rubbish
311 - Huge bag of papers - recycling
    312 - bottle of prosecco - gift
    312-314 - 3 x plates

Looking back on my first month of doing this - I have reached a point where I can see / feel it making a difference. Environmentally - seeing the loft look so orderly has motivated me - I never thought I would get there. Emotionally / Psychologically - I've reached a different level of what I'm prepared to give away (it's strange what I was / am emotionally attached to - bears little relationship to financial value). It feels very freeing to let these things go...

I am so glad I've kept at this - thanks for the motivation and accountability.:T

Ooh by the way - has anyone seen the trailer for "Life Stripped Bare" - Channel 4 on Tues @ 9pm - it's a one off documentary - the premise is - what happens when 3 young households have all their possessions taken away - I think they get to choose 1 item to bring back in a day. Looks like it goes a BIT far for me - they start off naked  . Looks like an interesting show though
