driving a pool car at work to accumulate no claims discount

Got a cheap quote for 270 pounds from Castle cover but when i called them up they would not accept 11 years driving a work pool car (leased) as part of no claims discount. Otherwise i only have 1 year ncd. Are there any insurers that would accept 11 years driving a pool car as part of ncd? I can get a letter from my manager to certify this.

They won't accept it because you have not personally had motor insurance without any claims.
Driving a pool car, insured by the company, doesn't count.0 -
If you'd had sole use of a company vehicle, some will accept a letter from the insurers and your employers along the lines of " I confirm United4ever has had use of a company vehicle for both business and pleasure purposes for XX years without claim/loss/incident".
But I don't think a pool car would count.
A letter along those lines won't always give you the full amount of years NCB, but may get you a better intro discount.
We often do these types of letter for people retiring from a business, SAGA tend to accept them, and after that you're free to shop around with your first years Max NCB SAGA renewal letter.0 -
I think most insurers would apply a bigger discount by using the 1 Years NCB, than using a company letter as an intro bonus.
That said, it maybe worth speaking to a broker to see if they have any insurers on the panel which will give a bigger discount.0 -
Are you a member of a Trade Union?
When I retired I had a letter from my Transport Manager and I took this to an insurance company that advertised in the TU magazine and had a full 60% NCDNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
