Problem with returning a faulty item which was part of a Bundle Deal

Hi
New forum user here !
For Xmas we purchased an XBox One bundle deal from Zavvi which consisted off XBox One Console, an extra Xbox One controller, and Fifa 16 video game.
On Xmas day we found that the extra controller had a fault with one of the buttons and after searching the forums there was no 'software fix' to sort it, so it has to be replaced.
Got in touch with Zavvi and they say I have to return the whole of the bundle ! Obviously this is not convenient as it my kids Xmas present and they are playing on it.
I explained this to them and their response was to get in touch of the manufacturer. Checking consumer law, it states that it is up to the retailer to sort out faulty goods.
I find this response from Zavvi to be totally unreasonable. As mentioned I've checked consumer websites but cannot find anything where an item as part of a bundle is faulty and the rules about getting a 'part-'replacement. Are Zavvi within their legal rights to say that if one item is faulty as part of a bundle, then you have to return the whole lot ? It wasn't as if the goods were all packaged in one single item - we received a cardboard box with the 3 separate items packaged !
For me it sounds like a put-off tactic and just generally poor service,
The biggest problem is that Zavvi are a purely on line retailer, and do not have a call centre to get in touch with. All queries have to be done through their website and you usually have to wait 24 hours to get a response.
We also have another outstanding issue with Zavvi (which I won't go into detail and can be treated separately to this), but lesson learned over this Xmas period is - DON'T BUY FROM ZAVVI AGAIN !!
Any advice to help with this would be great .
Thanks
Neil
