AVG is pretty much malware at this point. It has gone from a lightweight and accurate virus scanner to a bloated mess that will slow down your computer, hijack your start pages and redirect to their ad offerings.poppy100

For some bizarre reason we used the corporate version of AVG at work. Absolute ****. Didn't even detect a lot of the viruses we got and it took them an age to act when we submitted the files to them and gave them the information.0

We took advantage of a 'free' scan and now can't get rid of the daily invitations to purchase. We can't even uninstall!
... unless anybody can give us a clue ...0 -

We use AVG as our regular protection. It's just the invitations to purchase AVG PC TuneUp that we want to get rid of. Any ideas how to keep regular AVG? I'm thinking: remove using your link, then reinstall AVG?0 -
Fortunately, I've never used their Tuneup utility.0

Thanks. Lots of options there.

remove completely, also manually uninstall all the other bits (like tuneup), reset your search engines and homepages in all browsers, download a fresh copy and do a custom install and untick all the "extras".
Although, last time I looked at AVG (not on any of my machines, of course) I don't think even a custom install will just give a barebones installation....
....maybe time to think about custom install of avast, avira or bitdefender free versions..........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
I've been having issues with this myself,
It auto installed and setup its self which was annoying.
I had to fully uninstall it a few time before i got rid of it.0
