You could look for one of the cheaper chains of hotels with hotels at the airport with free shuttles between them and the airport. Then each morning just take the shuttle to the airport and a very cheap return on the train into Amsterdam (frequent service). Door to door in less than an hour and cheaper than staying in the city centre.

try https://www.hotels.nl which I personally recommend as I have used it myself (and saved a packet in the process!).
Best thing is that you don't pay until you arrive so if things go wrong just a phone call or e-mail to cancel and you don't lose anything.

Hotel De Gerstekorrel - central location - saves a fortune in cab / tram fares - excellent buffet continental breakfast - get all your stuff for lunch here!!

& rather than book directly, find a link on one of the hotel sites that offers 10-15% on line booking discounts.

If you go back a few weeks, there was a gret post in here about Amsterdam & stuff!

    Njoy!!

If you're on a budget and are prepared to rough it a bit try https://www.campingzeeburg.nl It's a bus ride away from the city centre but a lovely location by the water. You can rent a basic hut with bunk beds v cheaply and there is a shop, bar and cafe on site. We really enjoyed our say there in July 03, it has a real international feel to it.

  • Try Hotel Luxer, its right at the top of the Red Light District and comfortable and pretty cheap. I have also stayed in the Hotel Buerstraadt which is just of Damrak near the Grasshopper. Thats cheap too!

Hotel Van Onna. Its on the net; cheap and spotless, overlooking the canal. Ask for one of the top rooms in the attic. No credit cards, cash only.
  • i stayed in the NH Doelen in february, lovely hotel.
