Advice on new prefabricated garage

Hi, hope you guys had a good Christmas. we r looking to replace our existing prefabricated garage which is quite bad shape and would cost quite a lot to fix properly. Prefabricated as my budget won't stretch to build a brick or block one (am not too good with diy so can't do it myself to make it cheaper). I was thinking about getting a new one.

Mostly it will be used doe general storage (we need plenty of that in our house)...

Can someone please advise what brand to go for. There are I think two major national chains which do garages but I don't know if one is better than the other. Also what should I look out for when choosing a good one.

Also if someone can kindly advice, these garages are sold on million different "add ons" which are all made out to be great and needed but I am not fully sure..

Thanks for your help.

Where in the UK are you?

    Wooden or concrete?

I would guess that a 'smaller company' would offer a better deal than a 'major national chain' - will send you a PM

Thanks for your reply. Am in London. I don't mind wooden but am told there are some building control issues with largish wooden outdoor building. So I was thinking of concrete. I wasn't aware that there maybe local firms doing concrete garages! Ta

Bump in case anyone else has any advice. Ta.
  • Building regs relate to combustible structures near boundaries, the size (area) you can construct before needing building regs is smaller than for a non-combustible if within a short distance of a boundary.

I bought a prefab concrete garage from Lidget just under five years ago - no leaks, no condensation, no problems (yet).
