Oh, don't get me started on the antique road trip style programmes.

'Hi , this bundle of items come to £450, will you take £50?'

    'Yeah OK'

I always think the dealers and shops do themselves a great disservice as to me it just screams that the goods are massively over priced in the first place.

Then they take that £450 worth of items that cost £50 and expect to get £1500 when they sell it!

Gives the public totally unrealistic expectations.
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

on the other side I've watched the programme where they go to France and buy furniture and sell it to some London dealer for some ridiculously high price. It gives people who are thinking of going into buying and selling unrealistic ideas of how " easy" reselling is.

I am happy to give 10 - 20% off. I haven't set an autoreject on lower bids as I have been offering free post and if someone want to buy several of an item the savings in postage (and my time) will cover a lower price. Someone has sent me two silly offers recently (on a single item) which I have declined without comment as I don't feel it is worth saying anything. They have one offer left so they can always try a sensible one!

It makes sense when you're asking for multiple items, not one-offs. Bulk discount.

I had one seller that offered best offer on an item that cost £20. Put in offer of £18 (rejected), £18.50 (rejected) no counter offers then saw another seller selling same item brand new (new listing) for £15 so bought that one. If the seller wasn't even going to counter offer or reduce by a £1.50 or so then they can keep it. If I really want the item I'll pay their full price, if it's something I'd like but not too fussed if I don't get it then I'd try and haggle a few quid off. Most reasonable sellers will accept between 5-10% off the item. I'd NEVER consider offering <50% as that's being rude IMHO.

I don't have a percentage, I will usually accept around 20 pounds off my BIN price, and have autoreject to instantly weed out the silly offers. I do not ever counter offer, and will often simply let offers just above my auto-reject time out. I find 70 to 80% of my items sell on BuyItNow as they tend to be priced competitively in the first place, so theres not much wiggle room for offers and also not much incentive my side to accept anything other than very very good offers slightly below BIN.
