RBS CCard PPI Success

Just wanted to share!
After years of getting calls, texts & letters from claim company's (but knowing to ignore after seeing Martins advice on TV) I finally got off my backside and decided to have a go at it myself.
I used the MSE template letter to contact RBS who I had a credit card with for many years but paid it off and closed the account in Feb 2008. I did not have any old statements only one letter in my file confirming closure of the account, so had little to go on. I have to say they have been very good indeed.
I sent the letter off approx 6 weeks ago. Within a week I had a letter back advising me that I had indeed paid PPI for almost 4 years and gave me the dates from and to with a sum of almost £1500.00 paid during that time. They also included a from to fill in if I wished to make a complaint. I completed the form and sent it off, albeit not very hopeful as I had so little information at my end, but I was honest and said that I could not remember accepting PPI insurance, the contract I had with the company I worked for at the time entitled me to 12 weeks full pay for sickness. I also suggested that I was fairly confident that the card was taken out much earlier than the time frame given therefore must have been added at some point without having a conversation with me.
Anyway!! I had a text message approx 5 days later to advise they had received my complaint and I would hear back no later than 20th January 16 (a letter also came saying the same a few days later), I received another text 2 weeks later to say they were still looking into it and again reiterating 20th January deadline. On December 22nd I had another text to say they had completed their investigations and I would receive a letter within 10 working days to advise of the outcome, I was NOT hopeful at all, as it seemed too quick so geared myself up for a denial!
Today I received their letter offering me almost £3500, to say I am chuffed is an understatement.
Thank you to Martin for drumming it in on Good Morning Britain NOT to use these claim companies as they would now be taking up to 30 % of that when all it took was one small letter and a form to fill in. :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
