Has anyone bought any BitCoin?

Thinking about making a small investment in Bitcoin. I see BitBargain seems to be top in Google but the verification seems a bit OTT and doesn't look overly trustworthy.
Can anyone recommend a place to buy them from?
I assume I can write down/memorise the Bitcoin key and then transfer use them anywhere?

The value of bitcoins can and probably will vary wildly. As I write this one bitcoin is worth £288 - at its high one was worth £750 and its low a few pence, back in 2009.
While it is up this calendar year alone, which you can see here, the chart is very peaky:

Regarding them, you should really use a BitCoin Wallet, because the thing with Bitcoins is you need the private key in order to spend them, there was a story about a man who held his private key on a hard drive he later threw out, loosing 7.5k bitcoins in the process. At least with a wallet that you can now use via the likes of Android and what not, it should be harder to lose them.0 -
I haven't bought any and can't really recommend anywhere, but thought I would point out there is one exchange in the UK which is Coinfloor at https://www.coinfloor.co.uk, which means you don't have to worry about converting to foreign currency. On the other hand it is not as big as some of the others so I am guessing liquidity is lower and prices might not be as competitive, but probably worth checking out.0

It's volatile, but also very new. I think there is a lot of upside to it, but I wouldn't recommend putting in more than a few % of your wealth in there. Like all investments it certainly doesn't make sense to invest in something if you don't understand what it is and how it works/don't believe in it. Then again, bitcoin isn't an investment, but a form of money, so it's not investing at all.
If you are making small purchases use an app on your android/ios. Like a normal wallet, keep a little bit in there, If you get a larger holding you should send them to a more secure address.
I am going to throw any spare change/notes each month into bitcoin each month. I have a bitcoin ATM in my city, downside is they charge 5% commision, but it is a lot more convenient for me than using those online brokerage/exchange type things, also with an ATM I can buy as little or as much as I want.0 -

You can buy face to face with cash or by bank transfer. There is Escrow built in so secure too.0
