Paypal Refund Question

I have raised a not as described dispute through PP and immediately received two emails - one from PP confirming that my dispute had been raised with the seller, the second from the seller stating that my order had been updated and a refund had been made. This is not an eBay purchase.
The email from the seller is obviously automatic as I received it within seconds of the acknowledgement from PP; my assumption was that they just refund without going through the hassle of having goods returned; maybe because they have so few disputes.
I was delighted when I got this email, however the money is not showing in my PP a/c, and there is no update to the dispute.
Any idea how long a refund would take to appear in my PP a/c?
TIA

If there is no update to your dispute then the item hasn't been refunded.
The seller can only refund by doing it via the dispute which then closes it.0 -

Well, that really is odd because this is the relevant part of the seller's email:
"Order Status Changed
Hi .....
An order you recently placed on our website has had its status changed.
The status of order #4605 is now Refunded"
Then follows details of my order.
Perhaps it's just an internet delay, and I'm being too impatient.0 -

No, it may be that they've decided to refund, have updated their website and your order on the website, but haven't actually refunded the payment.
Have you logged into Paypal to double check you don't have a gift payment received, or the case has been updated but you missed the update?0 -
How did you pay for it? If you paid by card via Paypal, it will go back to your card but can take up to 30 days...

Yes, I have logged into my PP a/c and it's showing a zero balance and no update.
I'll leave it until tomorrow and see what happens. I initially tried contacting the company by email (no reply) and subsequently three telephone messages left for them to contact me (no response).0 -

Yes but the case will still have closed/updated, which it hasn't.0 -
I had to open an INR case with a store retailer. got an email from PP saying case had been opened....and then half an hour later another email from PP saying case had been closed because I received a refund. went to PP account and it was showing as refunded with a note from the retailer, but retailer didn't message me directly. So if the refund goes through the case will automatically be closed by PP0
