On BBC breakfast this morning both presenters said 'I am loving...'. McDonald's has much to answer for (for which to answer even :D).
'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).

    Sky? Believe in better.

Note: win, draw or lose (not 'loose' - opposite of tight!)

That's the present continuous tense, which is as far as I know is still valid, though not commonly used with the gerund form of "to love" .

I failed English Lit 'O' level though, so I'm not the best person to advise on the correct use of English. Or to give advice.

I have tried and I continue to try to change the way I think but, having grown up with a brother who would pick me up on split infinitives and give me a look of utter disgust and disappointment if I got less/fewer wrong, it's something which is pretty deeply ingrained.
    Ah.
I didn't realise it was a traumatic childhood that made you that way....:D

I don't pick people up on poor grammar or try to belittle them for the fact that they didn't grow up being told it was something important but I don't know that I'll ever reach a stage where it doesn't make me cringe slightly.
As I've posted earlier, it screams out at me too.
I've read at least 5 posts this morning that are grammatically incorrect.
Making you cringe is fine (imho), ignoring someone who doesn't understand the difference between 'there', 'their' and 'they're' is not (also imho).
I'd rather read a post that isn't perfect from an English perspective but does have paragraphs than one that is spelled correctly, has apostrophes in the right place etc. but is just a great wodge of text with zero paragraphs.
That's not because it offends my knowledge of English, it's because it's plain hard to read.

PS - the first part of my post is intended to be light-heartedly tongue-in-cheek and not meant as an insult. ;)

I totally agree with that. I think the problem we have is that I was referring to posts where it's so difficult to understand what people are saying that you have to read through it about 5 times to have a vague idea of what they're trying to say and you've taken that to mean that I'll ignore someone if they say "its to difficult".
Despite being grammatically correct, or at least not too poor, I obviously still need to express myself more clearly.

I kind of agree with that too, although I lump punctuation in with grammar so see a lack of paragraphs (which definitely makes things difficult to read) as poor English.

So, I wonder if you can guess what is currently niggling me most?

Edit: LOL I've just noticed my signature. No, the answer was in the question.
Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.

. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.

Why do people post threads and then not come back to them?

Lighting the touchpaper and then running off and not coming back. It's so annoying!

And I know for a fact the OP has been back on since. (In fact, they're online now!)

If someone's going to post something quite controversial, at least have the decency to respond to the replies people have given.
Maybe the OP was busy with other things.

Maybe the thread has had far more replies than the OP expected and he/she is busy reading them, formulating an answer.

I think if the OP of a thread doesn't return within say, 48 hours, the thread should be deleted!
But the OP only posted at 1:41 pm yeserday!

    That's less than 24 hours!

I think getting  is a bit premature. ;)

He's not , he's , with a bit of  thrown in for good measure.

Is there such a thing as "emoji grammar"?

Expect everyone to be perfect you cannot, you could even if, to be would you really want them, hmm? That might mean that doing a menial job rather than others you could be. Hmmmmmm.

The above was this 'You cannot expect everyone to be perfect, even if you could, would you really want them to be? That might mean that you could be doing a menial job rather than others', converted by the yoda speak generator: http://www.yodaspeak.co.uk/index.php
