  • You'll be waiting a long time. I will not apologise for having an opinion like I wouldn't expect anyone else to apologise for theirs. Just because I don't agree with that opinion, or mine isn't agreed with, does not make it wrong.

Am I not allowed to dislike people who can't spell? Does that mean those people who don't like the things I do like are wrong? I might say I dislike people who can't spell, but I also dislike people who are homophobic, racist or cruel to animals, am I wrong for that too? Do I have to like everyone?

Bet you have LOADS of friends! :rotfl:

Not really, but I find it's quality rather than quantity. :T

I must add that when my son was young I did indeed correct his grammar, spelling, syntax and punctuation. When he went off to work in Dubai the first time, he once phoned me at work to read me a sentence in which he was not sure whether the correct word was "accept" or "except", lol. But that's a personal thing, happened once and now he's sound. But if he used the wrong word, say in a text, I would correct him. Within the nuclear family, in private, I think it's perfectly okay. My husband likewise corrects or reviews my beliefs/understanding on British Mediaeval and Renaissance History at which he is much better-read than me and I appreciate it.

Do you mean "it's quality rather THAN quantity"? Or perhaps "quality OVER quantity"?

I meant than. I had missed it as I had originally wrote something else and changed my mind.

Thank you for pointing it out though, I see you are one of those people who corrects others. As I have said previously I'm not. I dislike poor spelling but do not correct anyone.

But you must dislike yourself a little bit now - surely? Or is it just people who make mistakes with spelling? Other mistakes are OK?

Actually I do. It will play on my mind for the rest of day at least and will be the subject of witty conversation with my children when I get home this evening and we're talking about our day.

I'm not saying your not allowed.
What I am saying is you know nothing about diseases and disabilities with adults, otherwise you wouldn't talk such rubbish.

Stamp your feet and tell me you won't as much as you like, i don't care, you'll only embarrass yourself talking twaddle of subjects you haven't a clue on.

I feel awful mean. I laughed at that. I wouldn't normally laugh at anyone who made a mistake, but i think we have some posters on this thread who will have everything that they write in future scrutinised (spl). There's going to be some here that will be going over all the posts from the likes of athensgeogia with-a-fine-tooth-comb, just waiting to pounce.

  • Ha - I chose to ignore the obvious mistakes in the last two replies. I am sure they will be included in AthensGeorgia discussions with the children later. I hope her (I assume her) quality friends aren't quite as judgemental and small-minded and decide her friendship is worth sticking with, once they find out she is slightly less than perfect!
