I believe you take what you want from KM, and I don't talk to my socks nor do I empty my handbag every night but this method has worked for me where others haven't. Some of the MK concepts don't translate to life in the UK because clearly Japanese homes are very different. I'm just happy that I can see the floor in my spare room, I know where my passport, utility bills and car documents all are, and I am better-dressed than I've ever been because I only have clothes I love in the wardrobe!
As for WB's comment about needing to keep appliance manuals - I had a big pile and also inherited a pile when we bought a house and contents. First step was to chuck out all obsolete ones. Second was to go online and see what manuals were available - that got rid of most of the rest. The few remaining got ripped apart and I only kept the English and Spanish bits - I don't think a Polish one will be much good in Southern Spain :rotfl:. I've then attached the receipt to the manual and filed it along with the receipts for the online manuals.
I do talk to my socks (which like being folded rather than rolled) and tell them 'it's your turn to bring me joy today'. But I think I've always spoken to them, just not out loud before
Kondo'd some white skin as warm enough to sunbathe here today :T and finally repaired a bra and trackie bottoms.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Ooh Slinky, I lurv that bedding - it will bring a smile everytime you see it!
The wavering room of doom is back to 80%, nay, 85% done now
As I had to buy a printer (nothing to do with leaving my office job, no siree), the need to clear up a bunch of misc paperwork was desperate. I have a small sideboard where the paperwork and some notebooks had accumulated. Although they were filed properly and easy to distinguish, there were too many notebooks, a few bits of training notes etc that could go, and some stuff needed putting in better order. It didn't take long to do (not as long as I had feared).
Made plenty of space, set up the printer to operate from tablet via wifi and gave myself a pat on the back
Dealt with personal admin, saved £35 on breakdown insurance, £125 on energy :money:
Went to M&S and spent a voucher, and got a £5 till voucher back for next purchase :j AND, they had reduced the profiteroles......
Tomorrow I want to finish the back room then make marmalade for my friend who is very poorly (she loves the Home Cook one you just add sugar to and boil for 15 minutes - always works perfectly).
Have a lovely evening everyone

We are packing for a week (dds) / weekend (dh and I) at my parents' place, and I wanted to locate some used stamps for charity. I found them in the study, then could not find the dental bills I want to send in, but did find the missing stapler, shredded a few paid childcare invoices, started a pretty voucher basket, found the stamps, found some lottery tickets I need to bring to the Netherlands (Dutch national lottery). So, all in all, a nice bit of clearing. I will need to spend more time there next week, when dds are at my parents'.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590

Morning all
I have been given a book '30 days to a clean and organized house':rotfl:by Katie Berry So I am going to do it as I like a challenge.
Started yesterday so today is day 2 of the plan.
It is very American so I have loads of time off as I have no laundry room walk in closets or teens rooms.which is most likely why it appealed to me :rotfl:
Its very flylady in its approach but I am way ahead of the game with the decluttering.
But I do like a list so this is right up my street.
So will update as to how I get on.
Todays cleaning task is the fridge (which could do with a clean)
and the organizing task is under the sink (which is kondoed and ok anyway) but will drag everything out and give it a bit of a clean.
I am even ticking jobs off the list in the book.I think I need to get a life really :rotfl:
Greenbee I am loving your paint colours and glad the builders are steaming ahead with the work
Still not decided but am going to do the ceiling tommorowto get it out the way while DH is around you never know your luck he may even pick up a brush or roller

Morning all.
Am on teabreak after the first hour in the Bedroom of Doom.
Thus far:
1. Curtains and nets down and into the washer.
2. 5 tins of Misc Paperwork gone thru. Big chunk of shredding (now shredded), a pile of non-confidentials for the recycling bin (in it already), small pile of probably-need-to-be-filed fin paperwork.
3. 5 tins are now one tin of cards/ envelopes to be used and one tin of Misc Powercords. Two tins are empty pending possible use in reorganisation, otherwise recycling bin and one smaller prettier tin is to be chazzered. We found two unused Easter cards which have now been written in and will be handed to rellies this weekend.
All this was the fragment of the top of one piece of furniture btw. Now tea-ing up and ready for the next section.
Onwards!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Yay GQ!! Thanks for taking the time to post, much appreciated. I've been doing a bit of scanning, but now the washing machine stuff is out on the line, I'm out for a walk, unbearable not to spend a *little* time out of doors today.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Yeah, it's a lovely day here, I will go out for an airing later. Can't believe we found the Easter cards on Good Friday, sod's law would have dictated finding them in May and losing them before next Easter.....:rotfl:
As I was sitting beside the fridge downstairs having my cuppa, I pulled off the four magnetic clips, each with a wodge of paperwork on it. Found lots of expired money-off vouchers and various carp so most of it is now in the recyling bin and a Tosspots clubcard voucher for £1.50 is now in my purse (I have a keyfob for Mum's clubcard account and am the main earner for the points so I get the vouchers).
Hokay, cover me ladies, I'm going back to the battle front.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I am on a roll when it comes to money saving - DH's van insurance renewal came through higher than last year. We felt it should still be reducing 'cos of NCD building up (he was always a named driver before and is still building up his NCD) and he is low risk. Internetted around and found a perfectly respectable, well known firm who offered exact same cover for 50% less. :money:
I couldn't believe it. We do shop around every time before renewing any insurance because we know the firms rely on inertia to raise prices for 'loyal' customers. We always save a bit on the renewal quotes but that is ridiculous. Any way that's another job off the BIG list :T
Other tasks accomplished with the help of MK so far today:
Packed for visit to parents which took only a few minutes, thanks to the amazingly tidy, organised, not over-crowded knicker drawer, the filed tops, the rolled leggings and the shoe stash. :rotfl::T:rotfl::T
Folded, rolled, filed dry washing away.
Filed old insurance docs with prev 5 years and removed the one that is now over 6 years old (only kept that long for tax self assessment purposes!).
Grabbed picnic bag and flask ready for tomorrow's long journey to the north of Scotland. I shalI wave to those in Inverness as I head on up :wave:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
At the parent-teacher evening last week the teachers advised dd7 to have math help. In Belgium this is given by a speech therapist, and you need a referral from an Ear-Nose-Throat specialist (yeah, I'm baffled, too). Anyway, this is all new to me, and I can happily say that I have actually set up both the referral meeting and the assessment meeting during the second week of the Easter break. Very relieved at conquering the new-to-me system.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590
