Recording on usb on Sony tv

Hi Guys


Bought this tv from currys- Sony BRAVIA KD49X8309CBU Smart Ultra HD 4k 49" LED TV and on the back it has a slot for usb that says usb slot that says hdd record and the Sony man who was in on the day said we can record from tv to usb, I bought a 8gb usb stick and was on a programme on the you view area of the tv and clicked record and it said this function is not available on the section, is there ways of recording tv programms on the tv?

You don't record online content (Youview area?), you record broadcast content - as in normal TV, from the TV guide. 8GB is tiny and you won't save much to it but useful to test before spending money on anything bigger.

The Sony YouView TV (4K in your case) doesn't yet have recording functionality. This has been slotted for the 31st March 2016. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

It includes access to all the normal free-to-air channels using the YouView guide and mini guide. Please note that HDD recording (REC) and satellite features will not be available when YouView functions are enabled.
