Anyone having problems with royal mail tracking

Is anyone having problems with royal mail tracking as I bought an item on ebay on sunday then on Monday I get an email from ebay to say the seller has marked my item as dispatched and also I was provided with a tracking number. I've checked the tracking number and it keeps showing That item number isn't recognised. I've contacted the seller and they said the item was posted Tuesday and the tracking number is correct.

What service was used, signed for or special?

if I drop off signed for at my local mail centre it never even shows as being in the system and my code shows as being unrecognised. They don't really like take specials so if I have one of those it goes to a post office and does show up online.

With the huge amount of ebayers at my mail centre, and probably others throughout the country, it could be as simple as that. Apparently it is because they don't use the PO system so the bar codes are not scanned and they go straight into the system.

RMT is usually very quick to update, but only once it's been scanned. If you purchased on Sunday, there is no collection Monday, so Tuesday would be the first day.

There isn't anything revealed in the tracking number if you want to share it here.
