You must be mad for giving a refund without getting the goods back!
I think you have 2 choices:
Sort it out yourself.
Write the money off.
Personally I'd go round to to this blokes house with a car full of mates. Knock on his door and ask for your stuff back. It will probably put the cr*ppers up him. But as the previous poster has suggested, be careful!0 -
Have you contacted e-bay themselves? if you have and they are not doing anything about it I would personally conact Which? explain what happened and if nothing else they will be able to explain your legal and consumer rights. Which? also have a legal department who will advise and take on cases, but you have to join & I think they are £9 a quarter or something. I tell you one thing though, I would not let this lie. I have been diddled a few times in the past, hence why I subscribe to which? Number is 08453074000 or e-mail which@which.co.uk, anything is worth a try rather than writing off 200 quid. As far as I am concerned it is up to e-bay to make sure that they don't allow scumbags like that to operate on their site, and that is the issue I would follow if you can't get anything out of him. Hope this helps. by the way I have plenty of old which magazines if you need any more help.0

PS if which can't help, I know watchdog have already done a piece on e-bay and their shoddyness when it comes to security, it may be worth a try contacting them as well. Don't let anyone persuade you that this is your fault and that there is nothing you can do about it. There is always something. Have you contacted the police because it is theft at the end of the day.0

I fail to see in what way EBay can be blamed for this!!
He made a mistake and ran up against a crook, the poice will do nothing and a small claim is bound to fail. So its either big mates or you live and learn.
The whole thing is nasty and unfortunate and I sympathise fully with clarkeyi but thats the way it is!!0 -
hintza is right, this bloke probably did not start off as a complete crook, he wanted the item replaced and was refunded before he had sent it. he saw an oppurtunity and took it. Ebay cannot see that this is going to be the case before it has happened so they are not in the wrong at all here.
I would honestly just speak to this person and stress that you will have to come and see him and try to come to an arrangement as this is really disappointing. I dont think that you are going to get much out of him though to be honest with you. It may just be the live and learn route that you are going to end up with.0 -
Thanks for all the advice. SPoke to hom today and still says it was sent.
I might kust take a drive up and see if the GPS holder is in the car then that will prove or still has it or not.
I would take it up with the police but I know it will be a waste of time.
Cheers anyway
