Totally agree with this. I am embarrassed this these are my peers.
I have no doubt there will be some women who weren't able to grab the opportunities presented to us in spades, but they will be a tiny minority, and they will not be your average WASPI campaigner. Many of the most vocal ones had (and often still have) jobs, works pensions from good jobs from employment or their own companies, and/or other independent means. When challenged, some will say that they are campaigning on behalf of the poor ones but that's not substantiated by their actual actions and behaviour. They keep saying they are speaking for all the [STRIKE]9150s[/STRIKE] 1950s women - which we know is untrue, as several of us on here have said WASPI do not speak for us. I have yet to meet anyone in real life amongst my family, friends, acquaintances and ex-colleagues who would support WASPI.
Sure, it would be nice if I had the odd additional £6K - £7K a year before I get to 66 but that would come at the direct expense of those who will have to wait even longer for their state pension than 1950s women (and men!) have to, and of those who are chasing constantly rising house prices and whose savings never stretch to a deposit.
It's disgusting to see that mature women, and often their male partners too, would be prepared to demand payments at the expense of others. Even more disgusting that MPs from "social" parties such as Labour and the SNP give their active support to the WASPI campaign. They should be having the interest of all their constituents in mind, not just those of a cohort of perfectly fit women in their early 60s whose interest in the community is limited to taking money off the working population.0 -

WASPI now have their own website https://www.waspi.co.ukThe AIM of the campaign is: to achieve fair transitional state pension arrangements for women born in the 1950s
They still don't have any details on the 'AIMS' I wonder how many will turn up for their march on Westminster on the 29th June?0 -
Interestingly, the website goes onto say "We do not ask for the pension age to revert back to age 60".
Which on the face of it contradicts their previously stated aim:
"WASPI ask the Government to put all women born in the 50s, or after 6th April 1951 and affected by the changes to the state pension age in the same financial position they would have been in had they been born on or before 5th April 1950."
Nonetheless, it seems fair to me that WASPI should declare once and for all whether a) their original aim stands, to partially reverse the 1995 Pensions Act and give all women born in the 50s their State Pension at 60, or b) to publicly declare that they have dropped their original demand. If they have dropped their original demand, they are stringing along those WASPI members who think they are going to get their State Pension at 60 and taking their donations on false pretenses. If they have not dropped their original demand, they are being disingenous to those who think this is about "fair transitional arrangements".
I'm not holding my breath.

Hold on. WASPI are taking donations?I am a Technical Analyst at a third-party pension administration company. My job is to interpret rules and legislation and provide technical guidance, but I am not a lawyer or a qualified advisor of any kind and anything I say on these boards is my opinion only.0

Gotta do something to get money before their later-than-they'd-like pensions go into payment0 -

My take is that the distinction has probably been impressed on them from their legal guidance.
Rollback to age 60 would require the same treatment to be provided to men to comply with equality requirements.
A compensation payment equivalent to this for maladminstration / unfair treatment / whatever would not necessarily be subject to equality requirements, as it would be recompense for a specific error that only impacted on the relevant cohort.
The reasoning is of course flimsy, as men born between 1953 and 1961 and women born between 1960 and 1966 have not yet had 10 years' written notice of state pension rises, and would need to be compensated as well.
This may well be trying to explain the inexplicable, but it at least makes some kind of sense if you take a crash course in Waspi Logic 101.I work for a financial services intermediary specialising in the at-retirement market. This week also saw the first official meeting of the APPG to support women affected by rises in State Pension age (the issue seemingly doesn't affect any men at all).
The meeting had a packed turnout of 120 MPs, with apparently 29 conservatives, indicating strong cross-party support.
Interestingly, a Waspi supporter on facebook was informed by her MP that they had attempted to attend the meeting, but they had turned up 15 mintues late by which time the meeting was already over.
There was obviously sufficient time for numerous photo ops, divvying out of titles, posts to social media etc. This begs the question of how much time was actually devoted to discussing practical solutions to what is by any estimation a highly complex and nuanced issue, which impacts not just on millions of women now but also the fiscal sustainability of the state pension for future generations?I work for a financial services intermediary specialising in the at-retirement market.
