Bare Trust Investment Fund

First grandchild arrived this Christmas and I am planning on putting some money away each year for her future. I am thinking of making an investment through a Bare Trust into the Vanguard Life Strategy 80% Equity fund. Charges are low and performance to date has been OK. Before I commit to this I was wondering if anyone has other thoughts on an alternative fund with similarly low charges and good track record?

Do you actually need a trust? FATCA is a pain the neck for trusts and for most investors putting aside small amounts for children/grandchildren, it is really unnecessary.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
