I've always stayed with the same house building and contents insurance. Renewal has just come in at £340ish. Price comparison site, with same excess and upping contents is £87. Am I missing something?

Accidental damage cover?
Personal Possessions cover?
Same high risk item limit?
Home insurance has gone down in cost over the last 5 or so years for low risk home owners. So, its not outside what you would expect if you had an old plan with no discounts. However, check the things above (there can be other add-ons too).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Another question we have just bought a couple of riser/recline chairs and also an electric bed for my DH. These items come in more than the £1000 each that the ins provide for but when trying to add them a list doesn't come up to add furniture. Do they just come under normal household items.0

Like you, I have had my insurance with the original company for 14 years. I never got round to reviewing it as it is due for renewal on 1st Jan and I was always busy over Christmas. just done it this year and gone from a renewal of £408 to a new policy for £178 which includes all extras like accidental damage etc. Wish I had done it years ago! What goes around comes around.....I hope!0

Me too. How stupid for just a few minutes work especially as we're low risk.0

You'll need to check with your chosen insurer.0 -
